The opportunity
In a highly competitive academic environment, institutions are always looking for ways to create meaningful experiences that connect with their students. Harvard Law School sought to provide admitted students with a memorable and impactful welcome—one that reinforced the school’s prestige while also generating excitement for their journey ahead.
To help Harvard Law create a standout experience, we were tasked with developing a personalized admission kit that would make students feel welcomed, valued, and ready to begin their time on campus.
The strategy
This year, our approach focused heavily on the “Why” behind the project. After holding several meetings over the summer to discuss ideas and themes, one key insight emerged—student feedback. Based on input from admitted students, it became clear that they wanted a more personalized experience combined with high-quality, practical items that could be used on campus.
By incorporating these insights, we refined the design of the admission kits to align with the exact needs and expectations of the incoming students, ensuring a meaningful and tailored experience.
The solution
For the 2025 Admission Kits, we created a fully customized Harvard Box designed to deliver a personalized and engaging unboxing experience. Each box included a personalized acceptance letter and a welcome letter from the university, allowing students to see their name and feel a direct connection to Harvard from the moment they opened it.
In addition to the personalized elements, the kit featured practical and high-quality branded items that students could use on campus. To prepare them for all seasons, each box included a Harvard-branded baseball cap and a beanie, both embroidered with the iconic Harvard shield. These thoughtful inclusions ensured that students were not only welcomed with a sense of pride but also equipped with items they could wear and use throughout their time at Harvard Law.
This approach combined sentiment with functionality, reinforcing Harvard’s commitment to its students while delivering a meaningful first impression.
The outcome
The program has been a success, becoming a major talking point on campus and even making its way onto the school’s LinkedIn page. Students expressed their appreciation for a welcome package that reflected their feedback, emphasizing how valued and recognized they felt as part of the Harvard Law community.
