The complete story

How the program came together

  1. 01

    Opportunity

UNC Charlotte needed a better way to manage departmental purchases of branded merchandise. A growing number of departments ordered independently through various vendors, which made brand consistency difficult to hold, limited visibility into what was being spent, and left procurement workflows manual. The university wanted a solution that streamlined purchasing while giving it real control over brand standards, spend tracking, and which products departments could order in the first place.

  2. 02

    Strategy

Club Colors scoped an integration rather than another storefront. The plan was to build a punchout experience directly inside UNC Charlotte's Jaggaer eProcurement system so stakeholders could shop pre-approved, brand-compliant products without leaving their purchasing environment. That approach carried four requirements: a fully integrated Jaggaer catalog, pre-approved product collections protecting the brand, department-level reporting and spend visibility, and reliable fulfillment with user-specific customization options.

  3. 03

    Solution

Club Colors implemented the Niner Shop as a customized punchout catalog carrying approved apparel, promotional products, and department-specific gear. Users log in through the university's internal eProcurement system, shop the portal, and place orders that route automatically through existing approval workflows — no separate vendor account or parallel process. In-house decoration, logistics, and support teams handle each order from product selection through final delivery, keeping production and fulfillment under the same roof.

  4. 04

    Outcome

Departments now order approved merchandise inside the purchasing system they already use, with orders routing through existing approval workflows automatically. Pre-approved collections mean every department orders from the same brand-compliant catalog, and department-level reporting gives the university visibility into what is ordered and what is spent. What was a decentralized, manual process across multiple vendors is now one integrated, brand-first procurement path with a single point of accountability.
